1914-1918 : both sides, Armand, Wilhelm and others
a shared war, from Touraine to the North of Lake Constance
July 2014 – May 2015
The Maison du Souvenir of Maillé, the Departmental Archives of Indre-et-Loire and the Cultural Service of the North District of Lake Constance (Bodenseekreis, Germany) join to evocate the fate of 6 soldiers – three French ones and three German – in the turmoil of World War I.
This exhibition, presented at the same time in France and in Germany, focuses more particularly on letters and cards sent by those men to their families. Through these correspondences, the initiators of this project wish to bring out the daily concerns of those “Tommies” and “Feldgrau”.
This exhibition, « Centenary » certified through the Centenary Partnership Program, will be presented at Kressbronn (Germany) from 6 July and the private view of its French part will be held at the Maison du Souvenir on 10 July.
A French and German exhibition catalog of more than 300 pages is for sale at the Maison du Souvenir (or by mail order selling in the « bookstore »).
